Gary Brickel
Illustrator / Toy Designer
An illustrator by trade, Gary Brickel discovered the world of designer toys in 2006 and has been hooked ever since.
When planning my method of attack. I see what swims around my frontal lobe, seize on that, and stay true to my animation roots. Some of my pieces are somber, some radiate euphoria, but tend to remain cartoony at the same time. Faces are what I deem most important in all my art. The details are there, sometimes less is more, but mostly more detail than a single glance can withstand. I want the details to stand out so I like to give the weary observer a chance to rest in between eye candy rushes. I use acrylic paints, pen and ink, prismacolor pencils, and a nice thick coat of polyurethane to wash it down. Japanese culture and art are great tools for thinking outside of the western box...and you will find that and a lot more in my work.
