Susan O'Hara
Ceramicist / Sculptor
Sculpting is my passion and clay my inspiration. The sculptures I create are my interpretation of the human body as well as faces, in a primitive modern style. It amazes me to see how the female torso can be transformed in so many different ways, depending on the way I build the clay. Faces are also of great interest to me - faces of serenity, sadness, contemplation and experience - depending upon my mood at the time of creation. I don't know where this fascination with the body and faces originated, perhaps from seeing great works of art of past and living artists.
I am happiest when I can manipulate clay into something of beauty, and seeing the many ways my ideas develop with just a handful of clay.
